Many groups and individuals are quite happy to visit schools and clubs to demonstrate the craft, sport, profession or hobby that they specialise in. The more interactive the group is with children (or adults!) the more involved in learning the children become with the history or skill, allowing them to experience it in a way watching it on TV or reading it from a book never can....
This page is purely to give some ideas of groups who are willing to visit and an online notepad of demonstrators and groups who have expressed a willingness to visit groups and schools...
Most groups ask a small fee or at least something to cover the cost of travel, so please ask in advance when booking.

Have a word with your local club they might be happy to come along and give a demonstration or for you to go to them. If they are unwilling its usually because of insurance or the need for parents to be present with the children as well, so be aware and be prepared to meet any requirements, or perhaps you can arrange to visit them. Many shoot on Sunday mornings, but some also shoot mid-week.
There are a number of private individuals and organisations who will for a fee happily give a lecture on birds of prey and bring one or two birds with them. This is always a popular event and if you sell tickets for it in advance you will often find you will either help cover the cost involved or even make a profit.
All the emergency services will happily arrange to visit or for you to visit them and usually have a liasion officer to arrange it with. Contact your nearest station.
These groups and individuals are usually more than happy to visit and demonstrate 'living history' showing how we used to live. We are building up our own list of these groups here (Historical Demonstrators)
Virtually all local councils have a parks and/or ranger service who run an educational program for groups and children. Our local rangers offer bat-watches, pond-dipping, nature rambles, bark rubbing and that's just for starters... Go on give your local rangers a call and see what they can offer you!
