Native plants are a hidden force in our gardens and countryside with many plants vital to the lifecycle of various insects, butterflies and moths for feeding, breeding and hiding.

A wildlife area could just be a border devoted to wild plants or a whole section of a garden or available land. To get the best out of the wildlife area it's important not only choose plants that suit the growing conditions, i.e. is it a sunny or shaded area, is the soil sandy and dry, damp clay, alkaline or acidic, near water, etc. But to also select plants that are native to the area.
