History
The congregation of this church was founded in 1865 through the lifelong efforts of Mary Wallis, a serving maid who had cherished a vision of the needs of Ewell for such a church. The congregation was formed in 1865 as a Congregational Church.
After various changes a Church building was established in the High Street of Ewell, but the congregation outgrew the building and moved to its present location further up London Road in 1938. Of the old church nothing remains and a flower bed stands in its place.
In 1972 the Congregational Church of England and Wales united with the Presbyterian church of England to become the United Reformed Church. Later the United Reformed Church was also joined by the The Churches of Christ in 1981.
Ewell URC is an active member of the Churches Together in Ewell, and has close links with it neighbour St Mary's Parish Church, Ewell. Ewell URC also now shares its own ministry with that of Epsom United Reformed Church.
Both Ewell and Epsom URC's have strong relationships with the community and are rich in talent, with groups and individuals in the congregation possessing a wide range of gifts from lay preaching to youth work. Both churches also have well designed premises.
